Locations are accompanied by portraits of corresponding girls, making it more clear to the player which relationship he'll be promoting by making his choice. The game is divided into school days at the end of each day, the player can choose a location among several ones available for Takaaki to visit. The player is prompted to make decisions from time to time, which will influence the course of the story.
The game is essentially a visual novel, with much of the story evolving automatically, displayed as text descriptions and dialogues superimposed on still anime-style images. To Heart 2 isn't directly connected story-wise to To Heart, though it has similar setting and themes.
